The Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO are undertaking a series of regional workshops to develop an understanding of the changes needed in the delivery of ‘standard’ climate data in a way that is relevant to the agricultural industry.  The insights developed through these workshops are allowing  high quality, long term, historical climate datasets to  be mined for event-focussed information that will enhance industry understanding of climate and weather risk and opportunity. It is the marriage of solid climate analysis methods with phenological and sectoral practise understanding that is delivering new levels of situational awareness for agriculture and regional Australia. We present a snapshot of this ongoing process and findings to date.
